Professor Paul Sharp is a renowned expert in Danish economic history, heading the Historical Economics and Development Group (HEDG) at SDU’s Department of Economics. With a prolific publication record in esteemed journals and books from the University of Chicago Press and Cambridge University Press, he stands as a leading European economic historian.

Paul’s prominence is underscored by his affiliations with esteemed institutions. In 2014, he became a Research Associate at CAGE, University of Warwick, and in 2015, a Research Fellow for the prestigious Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), comprising top economists focused on European economic issues.

Beyond research, Paul excels as a Principal Investigator, overseeing multiple grants, including a significant 6-million kroner grant from the Independent Research Fund Denmark. His contributions have garnered awards, press recognition, and accolades.

Furthermore, Paul is dedicated to his profession, serving as an editor, board member, and senior editor for various economic history publications and associations. He actively participates in reviewing, grant evaluation, and expert panels, including roles with the Danish Central Bank and Statistics Denmark.

He obtained his PhD in Economics from University of Copenhagen.
