The Director of Development at the Center for Growth and Opportunity will elevate the Center’s major giving with foundations, corporations, and individuals. The position will report to the President and will be responsible for communicating the value of our organization’s mission by developing and implementing strategies to identify, cultivate, engage and solicit major/principal gift-level donors and realize those donations. Writing skills as well as demonstrated success in developing proposals for funding and realizing those proposals are requirements. Candidates who have policy-research experience will be given priority.
This position is a new role at the CGO. Our rapid growth necessitates an experienced and engaged professional to develop and lead the strategy and execution of major gifts initiatives. We are constantly creating and innovating at the CGO, and this job would be no exception. This role offers someone the opportunity to grow and learn professionally and personally by creating and delivering on strategic development decisions.
Ideally, the Development Director will operate full-time out of the Center’s office in Logan, Utah, but a hybrid virtual office arrangement may be considered on a case by case basis.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
- Develop strategy and lead implementation to increase giving from all sources. for growing portfolios in major gifts, foundation and corporate giving.
- Strengthen the current donor base by implementing an effective engagement to maintain and grow their investment with the Center
- Oversee and prepare submittal of gift/grant proposals
- Steward Donors
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately up to 50% of the time.
- Planned giving experience is a plus.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in major gift fundraising, with a proven track record of success and a strong working knowledge of development strategy and moves management in the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of new and existing gifts
- College degree preferred.
- Proven experience in writing and submitting successful proposals, LOIs, and other fundraising asks.
- Demonstrated success in cultivating major donor relationships.
- Proven success as a productive and collaborative team member and an ability to align personal goals with the overall organization’s mission and objectives.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Possess an entrepreneurial spirit focused on meeting goals and being self-driven and mentoring and leading team members.
- Highly effective interpersonal, conversational and presentational skills, demonstrating an emotional intelligence and situational awareness in tandem with excellent writing abilities and strong case development skills.

Job Description and Responsibilities
The full-time Executive Assistant will provide support to the Executive Director and Senior Director of Strategy and Research in the following ways:
- Manage calendars by scheduling appointments and acting as a “gatekeeper” to ensure all information and appointments are a valuable use of their time
- Arrange corporate travel and meetings by developing itineraries and agendas
- Research, prioritize, and follow up on incoming issues, projects, and concerns addressed to the Senior
- Director of Strategy and Research or the Development Director and determine the appropriate course of action, referral, or response
- Prioritize conflicting needs; handle matters expeditiously, proactively, and follow-through on projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressures
- Complete a variety of impromptu administrative tasks
