Michael Giberson

Bio

Michael Giberson is a Senior Fellow of Energy at the R Street Institute. Before that, he was an associate professor of practice in business economics with the Energy, Economics, and Law unit at Texas Tech University’s Rawls College of Business. His research interests include energy policy, regulation and competition in electric power markets, and the law and economics of price gouging. At Texas Tech he taught courses in business economics, energy economics, and U.S. energy policy and regulation. He received his PhD in Economics from George Mason University.

Michael has been published in various prestigious publications such as Nature Energy, the Electricity Journal, the Journal of Regulatory Economics, the Pacific and Asian Journal of Energy, and Regulation magazine. He has written extensively on U.S. energy policies and federal electric power issues for trade publications. Along with Lynne Kiesling, he is the co-author of the Knowledge Problem blog, which discusses economics, energy policy, technology, and other related topics. The Energy posts at Knowledge Problem have been featured at Social Media Today’s The Energy Collective online community. Additionally, his commentary and analysis have been featured at Alternative Energy Stocks and MasterResource.
