Bio

Katarina is a former Innovation Fellow conducting research on tech policy. Her research initiatives include transportation, cities, crypto currencies, and immigration. Katarina earned her master’s degree in political economy from New York University. During her graduate studies, she focused on the development of cities with a particular interest in land use regulations and housing affordability in developing countries. Her previous research experience includes field research in Cuba on remittances and the emerging tech sector, informal parking markets in Guatemala, and local approaches to insecurity in Latin America. Her work has appeared in Forbes, CNN Espanol, Washington Examiner, and Real Clear World, among others. She was a Mercatus Center Frédéric Bastiat fellow. She received her BA in economic and social history at Universidad Francisco Marroquin in Guatemala.
