Dr. Joy Buchanan is an associate professor of quantitative analysis and economics at Brock School of Business at Samford University. Her research focuses on the intersections of labor economics and behavioral economics, with a particular emphasis on the effects of recessions on the labor market. She uses economic experiments to gain insights into how employers and workers respond to economic downturns, and her work has been supported by the National Science Foundation and other organizations.

Her research has been published in many scholarly journals, including Labour Economics, Journal of Behavioral Science, and Journal of Economics and Finance Education.

In addition to her research, Buchanan teaches courses on data analytics and economics at Brock School of Business. Her approach to teaching emphasizes the importance of hands-on learning and real-world applications of economic theory. She is committed to providing her students with the skills they need to become effective problem-solvers and data analysts, as well as to fostering their intellectual curiosity and passion for economics.
